Description: I attended a conference break out session on "geocaching". The presenter had taken a family hobby of geocaching and turned it into an integrated activity/unit for her at-risk middle school students. I immediately saw the possibilities on creating a geocaching unit for our at-risk students. My co-teacher and I then applied for a technology grant, asking for ten global positioning units. We were awarded the grant and created a geocaching unit. The unit was evaluated as an 0.50 elective course credit. The unit was then published for our students to access via an course management system, Moodle.

Analysis: The geocaching unit we created had connections to math and social studies. A few students were selected to pilot the activity. The students did an introductory lesson on how to use the units. After they were acquainted with the units, the students did a basic geocache in the ballfield adjacent to our school.

Reflection: The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. The students enjoyed the change of scenery in their learning as well as the untradtional approach to their learning.
